Community Support
In Luke 12:48 we read, “For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required”. This verse reminds us that we will be held accountable for how we handle what has been entrusted to us on this earth. At Speegle, we support organizations in our community and abroad that are committed to helping the needy. We believe that to truly help an individual more has to be done than simply providing food, clothing, shelter or a good education. As Theodore Roosevelt once observed, “A man who has never gone to school may steal from a freight car; but if he has a university education, he may steal the whole railroad”. His comment illustrates that real and lasting change must occur in the heart of an individual if he or she is to be truly helped. How can one’s heart be changed? True and lasting change only comes thru the saving work of Jesus Christ. Recognizing this, Speegle Construction supports organizations that embrace this reality as a key part of their ministry to those in need.

The Refuge Initiative – The Refuge Initiative is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization that is committed to addressing the current refugee crisis which is plaguing North Africa and the Middle East. The organization focuses on developing micro-camps where the needs of the refugees are met while at the same time empowering them to make their own decisions.
Camps created are small and range from 100 – 250 people in order to maintain the normal social structure to which refugees are accustomed. This structure provides a strong sense of community and helps the refugees transition into their new home environment. Families are provided with small yet independent homes in which to live. Schooling is provided for the children along with vocational training. Partnerships are developed with the local governments and local businesses to provide employment opportunities for adults. The Refuge Initiative provides hope for those displaced from their homeland and allows them to integrate into their new local community. The organization has had significant success helping displaced people restore their dignity, find hope and move forward with their lives on a pathway back to independent living.
