The Northwest Florida State College project (formerly known as Okaloosa- Walton County Community Services Complex) is a multi-functional facility constructed in Niceville, Florida for Okaloosa County and the State of Florida. The project consists of three main structures- 1) the new 2,500 seat basketball arena 2) the Emergency Operations Center (EOC), and 3) the new classroom facility. Construction consists of structural poured in place concrete for the arena, and structural reinforced masonry construction for the EOC and classroom areas. The EOC and classroom facilities are separated from the arena by a covered, climate controlled walkway. The scope of work included demolition of all existing structures and infrastructure and completion of new grading and earthwork, asphalt and concrete paving, landscaping and architectural water features, all site related concrete work, emergency generator building, building construction (including all plumbing, HVAC, fire protection, electrical, architectural finishes), all driveways, entries, and service roads for a complete and operational facility. Design of the facility is by Sam Marshall Architects. Special features of the EOC include a design wind speed survivor criteria of 190 MPH, and 15 pound missile impact resistance at 50 MPH.
